Pursuits Programs

The St. Mary’s Pursuits program is designed to meet the needs and interests of the immediate school family during the school year and the Memphis community each summer.  Besides offering after-school childcare, the program provides a variety of enrichment programs, non-credit courses, a summer day camp, and a week-long overnight camp.  A schedule of offerings is made available three times a year.  Please review the links to find a program that will meet your needs.

After-School Enrichment Classes (Pre-kindergarten through Grade 8)

Designed to develop and enhance life skills in St. Mary’s students, these classes are taught by hand-picked instructors from St. Mary’s faculty and the community. Usually beginning a few weeks after classes resume each semester, offerings vary from Martial Arts/Self-defense to Knitting and Yoga. Brochures detailing these offerings will be available from the Pursuits Office in September and late January.

Masterminds Grades 5-8

Created as a study hall for the Middle School students of St. Mary’s, Masterminds meets in the Blaisdell dining room each weekday at 3:30 and ends at 6:00 p.m.  Snacks are provided as well as some free time in the dining hall before everyone settles in for homework time at 4:00. A 15-minute break at 4:45 is followed by continued study time during which students may study quietly as a group if they wish. We celebrate Fridays with a feature film and popcorn!

Pursuits Care (Grades Pre-K - 4)

Pursuits Care provides a safe, fun environment for the students of St. Mary’s on the North Campus (Moss Hall and ECC) after school lets out each day. While it is designed to meet the needs of the working parent, all students find snacks, play time, activities, and crafts with our specially trained staff the perfect way to end the day at school! For Moss Hall students, a quiet study time is also provided Monday-Thursday. Pursuits Care operates from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. each weekday and on days that school lets out early, care begins with dismissal.

Summer Pursuits

Students entering Grade 12 may enroll in a workshops concentrating on writing college essays and searching for the right college. Courses on fairy tales, musical theater, inventing, chess, babysitting, and many more are also provided for various ages.

Basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball are some of the sports provided for girls during the Pursuits Summer Program. Sessions are divided by age and focus on acquiring and refining new skills.

Day and Overnight camps for girls are also available, with day camps offered for students entering pre-kindergarten through Grade 4 and a Leaders-in-Training camp offered for students entering Grades 5-8. Girls entering Grades 2-9 may opt for a week of Overnight camping and adventure in late July.
