Metropolitan Opera Auditions Celebrate Fiftieth Anniversary at Buckman

On Friday, February 4 at 7:30 pm, the Buckman Theater is pleased to host the Fiftieth Anniversary Gala Concert of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Mid-South Region. The event will feature Susanna Phillips, soprano and 2005 Mid-South and National Winner, and Adam Diegel, tenor and 2003 Mid-South Winner. Caren Levine, pianist and Assistant Conductor of Metropolitan Opera, will be on hand to accompany.
The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions is designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. Winners of the district auditions advance to their region finals where they compete to participate in the national semi-finals, a competition held on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera.
