The Buckman Conservatory
The Buckman Center is committed to offering the greater community as many opportunities to experience the arts as possible. Join us for one of these exciting new classes this fall.

  • String Classes

    Buckman is pleased to offer violin, viola, piano and guitar instruction for students age seven through adult. Under the tutelage of some of the Mid-south’s most esteemed musicians, group and private lessons in both traditional and Suzuki methods are available. All levels of experience are welcome.   • Yoga

    A step-by-step instruction of yoga fundamentals, this class enables students to practice vinyasa asana (yoga postures) and kundalini yoga with an emphasis on breathing, strengthening, stretching and balance. With stress reducing techniques, instructor Anne Wike leads participants through gentle somatic movements that encourage the body and mind to relax and heal. The last Tuesday of the month features live music with Sean Murphy. Mats and props are provided. Class meets every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Buckman Dance Studio.   • Children’s Ballet and Dance School

    Under the direction of Mary VanDyke Roudnev, Children&supl;s Ballet and Dance offers children ages two to adult a dance program to build poise, confidence, grace, concentration and posture. Classes include pre-ballet, ballet, Pointe, jazz/tap, musical theater & dance, ballet for children with mild injury, Mom-N-Tot Sing-N-Dance, adult ballet and adult standing Pilates. An excellent opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the art of dance, each class offers beginner to advanced sections with performance opportunities.   • Buckman Center Ballet Program

    Under the direction of Dmitri Roudnev, the Buckman Center Ballet Program offers serious dance students ages nine to 17 the opportunity to study the grace and beauty of classical ballet in a pre-professional dance environment with the best instructors. Dancers will perform in a Christmas Show featuring Nutcracker excerpts and a spring recital featuring Sleeping Beauty or other beloved ballet highlights.   • Artland! Visual Arts for kids

    Mid-south students ages ten to 13 are invited to Artland! Led by artist and St. Mary’s teacher, Elizabeth Garat, this hands-on after school art program explores various two and three-dimensional media and inspires creativity. Classes meet Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Buckman Art Studio III. Tuition is $125 for the eight-week class and includes all materials.
