Levy Gallery Submission Information
The Levy Gallery, located in the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, is committed to showing original, high quality fine art by both professional and exceptional emerging artists. We welcome the opportunity to view new work and accept artist’s submissions on a regular basis. The anonymous selection committee meets each May.
We have five exhibition slots per calendar year, with each show running approximately four weeks. Our 1400 square feet lighted exhibition space can accommodate sculpture in addition to 2-D work. Levy Gallery accepts proposals for solo exhibits, two-person and/ or group shows. Work is assessed for its quality, originality and appropriateness for our gallery. Though we primarily show work by artists from the mid-south region, submissions from artists outside the region will be considered.
Artists seeking consideration for exhibition should submit the following:
-6-8 images of recent or proposed work or a CD of digital files (email to cyounker@stmarysshool.org),
-An artist statement and brief description of why you’d like to show your work at the Buckman Center,
-Artist’s resume and/or bio,
-Specs of your work (e.g., mediums, dimensions/size),
-A self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of materials,
-Any promotional materials (postcards, flyers, advertisements) for past shows,
-Reviews of your work and
-A sample price list.
Please don’t send:
-Original work or
-Large packages and oversized reproductions of your work
Artists selected to exhibit work in Levy Gallery cannot exhibit work in the Greater Memphis Area 6 months prior to, or 6 months after, the Buckman Center exhibit.
All work exhibited in Levy Gallery must have been completed in the last two years and may not have been previously exhibited in Memphis.
The Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center becomes the fiscal agent for the period of the exhibit.
Materials are reviewed by our selection committee annually and may be retained for up to 12 months. Exhibitions are scheduled at least six months in advance.
