Community Concert Featuring Artist in Residence Morgan Beckford '06

Events featuring Artist in Residence Morgan Beckford '06 have been rescheduled to Monday, March 4 - Thursday, March 7.

Please join us on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. for a community concert featuring St. Mary's Artist in Residence Morgan Beckford '06 at the Buckman Performing & Fine Arts Center. Beckford is an opera singer based in Boston. The performance is free and open to the public.

Each year, a nationally recognized artist visits St. Mary’s to work with students through the Louise T. Archer ‘40 Artist in Residence program. During her residency, Beckford will work with students across all divisions the week of March 4. Her curriculum will highlight works by Black composers. Beckford will also speak and perform at South Campus Chapel at Church of Holy Communion on Monday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m.

We are excited to welcome Beckford back to campus and look forward to her time as Artist in Residence.

About Morgan Beckford '06

Beckford currently serves as Silkroad Connect Director at Silkroad, a music-driven nonprofit founded by Yo-Yo Ma. She has a decade of experience in music education, including roles as Chief Programming Officer at the Community Music Center of Boston, as well as Fellowship Coach and In-Schools Partnerships Coordinator at the Memphis Music Initiative.

After graduating from St. Mary’s, Beckford obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Voice at the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music in Voice from the University of Maryland, College Park. She regularly performs as a staff singer at Trinity Church Boston and with other New England-based groups. Beckford is a member of St. Mary's Alumnae Board.
