Earlier this year, the St. Mary's Community Fund (SMCF) awarded $40,000 in grants to fund projects at six Mid-South nonprofits that serve children. The SMCF allocated part of the funds to Girls on the Run Memphis. This nonprofit organization works to enhance girls’ social, emotional, and physical skills to help them navigate life experiences. Through an experience-based curriculum incorporating running, GOTR allows participants to be joyful, healthy, and confident.
Several St. Mary’s students have volunteered for Girls on the Run Memphis over the past few years. Many Upper School girls have spent countless hours as Junior Coaches, helping mentor girls at different program sites. Our students have taken active leadership roles and become spokeswomen for GOTR Memphis, among other positions benefiting this organization.
We are thankful for our relationship with this incredible nonprofit and continue to be inspired by the work they do for our community.
