January VEX Robotics Competitions

This past weekend, St. Mary's hosted 30 teams from across West Tennessee to compete in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition. At the VEX IQ Robotics Competition, Slapshot, students are challenged to design robots that can clear disks from dispensers and move them into scoring zones.

We are so proud of our 8th grade team, Thea Larschan, Esme Larschan, and Abigail Brown, for winning the Excellence Award, which is the highest award presented in the VEX IQ Challenge. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high-quality VEX robotics program.

Our 6th graders, Raina Mirza, Ella Federico, Anya Supta, Oliva Doyle, and Shreya Manne won the Design Award, won the Judges Award, which is presented to a team that the judges determine is deserving of special recognition. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for attributes, exemplary effort, and perseverance at an event.

On Saturday, 1/14, the robotics team competed in another tournament.
