Courtney Ellis Felts '96 Speaks at Chapel

We were delighted to welcome Courtney Ellis Felts '96 to speak to us in Chapel today. At St. Mary's, Courtney was a member of the Honor Council and served as editor of The Tatler. She was recognized as class salutatorian and received the Gold Cross Award. She was introduced by friend, former classmate, and 4th-Grade Math and Language Arts Teacher Alexis Nussbaum ’96.

Courtney spoke about how St. Mary’s equipped her with lifelong skills, “beyond academics, there are other elements of the SMS education I received that prepared me for life after graduating from SMS. Some of these elements, just a few, perseverance, self-confidence, sense of community, and integrity.”

She shared, “The unique nature of SMS, with its Honor Code, welcoming and diverse atmosphere, and unending encouragement, that I experienced here is embedded within my heart and has helped shape my life.”

After St. Mary’s, she attended Harvard University and Vanderbilt University Law School. She is currently Lead Counsel in the Regulatory Affairs group in the FedEx Corporation Legal Department, where she focuses on domestic and international legal and regulatory matters. Click below to view Courtney's Chapel speech.
