Diving In: Fourth Grade Students Host a Book Discussion

Recently, our North Campus Librarians, Mrs. Catherine Denman and Mrs. Caryn Brannen, organized a book discussion for the 4th-grade students. Joined by special guests, the 4th-grade girls read the book Operation Frog Effect by Sarah Scheerger.

If one small act can create a ripple across the universe, what happens when a whole group of kids join together and act? Told in eight perspectives, Operation Frog Effect tells the unforgettable story of a group of very different kids who take responsibility for their actions and unite for a cause.

Fourth-grade students led their tables in a discussion of the book in the Gilmore Lynn Room as everyone enjoyed pastries and treats. Afterward, attendees enjoyed a special zoom conference with the author, Sarah Scheerger. Ms. Scheerger talked to the girls and special guests about her writing process and Operation Frog Effect before answering questions from the students.

It was a great experience for our girls to interact with the book’s author and delve deeper into the story. Thanks to our librarians for putting this event together and to Sarah Scheeger for spending her time with us. We can’t wait to see what book our 4th graders discuss next year!
