Eighth Grade English teacher and JV Lacrosse Coach Claire Zagrodzky loves teaching because “it allows me to pass along my passion for learning and reading. There's nothing I love more than helping students read difficult texts and watching them understand and grasp new ideas. It inspires me to keep learning and reading, too!”
Claire is originally from Austin, Texas. She moved to Memphis to attend Rhodes College, where she played lacrosse and studied English literature and educational studies. Before joining St. Mary’s this year, Claire taught at Southwind High School and coached girls' varsity lacrosse at St. George's.
“SMS is a fantastic place for girls to learn and grow because it is academically challenging, yet it also provides safe spaces for girls to become independent and creative thinkers,” she said. “This tight-knit community is supportive and encourages girls to be the best version of themselves.”
