Partnering with MIFA to Encourage Community Engagement

Our 7th-grade students participate in the Community Connections class. This course is focused on helping our girls become engaged with the local community by learning about the challenges facing our city such as homelessness, food insecurity, and health inequity. The course partners MIFA, a local nonprofit that supports vulnerable seniors and families.

As part of our partnership, MIFA representatives meet with our class several times throughout each quarter to discuss the issues facing our communities, how their mission and programs address these issues, and how our girls can become involved. The 7th-grade girls are currently hosting a donation drive for non-slip socks until Sept. 28 and will volunteer with Meals on Wheels later this month.
