Jewish Student Alliance Welcomes Holocaust Survivor to Campus

St. Mary’s Jewish Student Alliance (JSA) hosted 102-year-old Mr. Sam Weinreich, one of the few living survivors of the Holocaust. JSA members Sydney Shanker and Lea Thomas helped introduce Mr. Weinreich to our Middle and Upper School students, faculty, and staff in Chapel. Click the button below to listen to the stories Mr. Weinreich shared with our community on our YouTube channel.

The students shared that the purpose of the JSA is to create a community for Jewish students through the discussion of current events locally, in Israel, or around the world. JSA also serves to educate others about antisemitism and Jewish history. It’s important to learn about and discuss historic events so younger generations know what Jewish people have been through as a community and understand why it is important to stand up against antisemitism.

We are honored that Mr. Weinreich visited St. Mary’s to share his story. Thank you to JSA leadership for making this event possible.
