A Message from Dr. Flynn
Dear St. Mary’s Community,
It is with great enthusiasm that I will be joining the St. Mary’s School community in July of 2027.
During my visit, I was struck by the warmth, energy, and authentic sense of belonging that defined each interaction and observation. In conversations with students, I heard this sentiment reflected again and again. No matter when each girl joined St. Mary’s, she spoke of feeling truly known, valued, and connected. The girls felt a strong appreciation for the differences each classmate brings. I was also inspired by the role that faith, reflection, and service play in shaping daily life at St. Mary’s, grounding the community in purpose and shared values. It is clear that St. Mary’s is a deeply connected and caring community.
As a graduate of an all-girls school, I experienced firsthand the indelible power of relationships formed in such an environment. Confidence, character, and a strong lifelong sense of purpose develop through these relationships between students, and between students and their teachers. These connections allow each girl to be both challenged and supported as she discovers her unique purpose and reaches her individual potential. I eagerly look forward to meeting each of you and learning the many dynamic ways that St. Mary’s has shaped you, and how, in turn, you have shaped this community.
The traditions of St. Mary’s are the ties that bind students, teachers, and alumnae across generations. I am excited and ready to immerse myself in these traditions, as well as in the strong academics that continue to position St. Mary’s as the leading school for girls in Tennessee.
Thanks to the steadfast leadership of Mr. Throckmorton, the future is bright for St. Mary’s. It will be an honor to walk alongside him throughout the coming year, learning from his leadership and preparing to carry the torch forward with the exceptionally talented and dedicated faculty and staff who bring St. Mary’s mission to life every day.
My husband, Patrick, and I look forward to joining the St. Mary’s community with our daughters, Nancy Elliott "Nellie" and Carlin, who will attend the school, and our baby due in August.
With gratitude,

Caroline Flynn, EdD
