Sydney Watson Named Head Volleyball Coach

We are thrilled to announce Sydney Watson as our new Varsity Volleyball Coach for the 2025-2026 school year.

Watson joined the St. Mary’s coaching staff in 2015, initially helping the Middle School volleyball program before transitioning to varsity assistant coach in 2022. She brings extensive experience and expertise to the varsity program. 

As a player, Watson had an impressive career at White Station and with Memphis Juniors. After graduating in 2014, she began her club coaching career at Memphis Juniors, where she continues to coach today. 

Her coaching resume reflects her ongoing success, including leading all her St. Mary’s Middle School teams to championship appearances, playing a key role in advancing the Upper School varsity team to the state tournament, and, for the past two years, guiding her club team to top-five finishes at national qualifiers. 

A fundamentals-driven coach, Watson emphasizes technical precision while fostering a strong sense of community among her athletes. “I want my athletes to value the community and traditions that make St. Mary’s volleyball special and for each player to grow into an exceptional game changer on and off the court,” she shared. “I am excited to give back to the program that shaped my coaching career, especially since most of the rising seniors have been with me since seventh grade.” 

Watson is excited to continue her time with St. Mary’s volleyball as the new head coach and we look forward to seeing our athletes grow under Coach Sydney’s leadership.
