Welcome
Young women of integrity, compassion, and confidence
That’s how the school viewbook describes the St. Mary’s girls of today, and these words ring true of alumnae as well.
It is encouraging to see St. Mary’s - the #1 girls' school in the Southeast region - continue its tradition of providing an outstanding education which enables each student to reach her potential and instills in girls a sense of responsibility to others and a belief that they can make the world better.
It is also delightful to be part of a community of capable, hard-working, and fun-loving women. St. Mary’s welcomes alumnae back to campus for our annual Alumnae Weekend and brings together alumnae for events throughout the year and across the country, including book clubs, alumnae chapel speakers, decades parties, and gatherings of alumnae in other cities.
The financial support of alumnae is vital to the school. More than half of our alumnae give to the Annual Fund, with gifts ranging from $50 to $50,000. All gifts are essential as we ensure that today’s girls receive an exemplary education in a supportive community, just as we did. Please know that we are grateful for every single gift, regardless of size, as we are grateful for you as a member of the
St. Mary's family.
Please contact us to learn more about upcoming events, to share an idea, or to get more involved in volunteering or leadership.
We hope to see you soon!

Each year, a nationally recognized artist visits St. Mary’s to work with students through the Louise T. Archer ‘40 Artist in Residence program. This year's artist is Morgan Beckford '06, an opera singer based in Boston. Beckford will work with students across all divisions. Her curriculum will highlight works by Black composers. Beckford will also perform a concert for the community.
In preparation for his new term, Mayor-elect Paul Young asked two St. Mary’s alumnae to join his transition team. Cara Greenstein ’10 and Anna McQuiston ’88 worked with other community leaders to help guide the priorities of the new administration.

As an Associate Professor of Religion at Clemson University and a historian of American religion, Elizabeth Jemison ’04, Ph.D. has made a career of researching and asking questions, focusing on the relationships between religion and race, gender, and politics during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Yorick in Space, an exhibition featuring paintings by St. Mary’s alumna Mamie Tinkler ’96, is currently on at Tops Gallery in downtown Memphis (400 S. Front Street). The exhibition opened on Saturday, October 28, and is available through Sunday, December 17. The new series of paintings in watercolor and gouache is “set in a far-off galaxy, or the distant past, or a place entirely imagined.”
For the last seven years, Chandler Roberts Cummins ’12 has dedicated her career to being a comforting presence to patients while providing the highest level of care. As a nurse, Cummins knows that patients are often in their most vulnerable state during a hospital stay or doctor’s visit and are in need of extraordinary empathy and compassion.
Years after her own graduation in 1983, 2023 Outstanding Alumna Brandon Garrott Morrison is clear-eyed about what makes her long-standing relationship with St. Mary’s so special. It’s not just one thing, of course.
