Lower School Teams

The developmental athletic program encourages all St. Mary's girls to enjoy and explore new talents as they participate in recreational athletics. Lower School sports create an opportunity for students to engage in organized teams and learn the fundamentals of their sport.

All Lower School sports are open to girls in grades 3rd-5th. Athletic forms are required once a year for students who plan to participate.

Fall Sports

Cross Country (3rd-5th) - The Lower School Cross Country team runs in the Memphis Youth Athletics league. The team practices twice to three times per week with meets on Monday. Practice starts in mid-August and the season ends in mid-October.

Lower School girls will have an opportunity to join a team offered through our partner, Church of the Holy Communion. Please see winter sports here.

Summer Camps & Clinics

Little Dribbler’s Camp
JK – 1st
This camp is an awesome way for your young sports enthusiasts to be introduced to “dribbling” both in soccer and in basketball. Focusing on basic skills while emphasizing teamwork will be the two main goals of this camp. Each participant will receive a camp certificate upon completion. Please wear tennis shoes and shin guards. Bring a #3 or #4 soccer ball and a water bottle.

Carl Schmitt Soccer Camp
AGES 5 – 18
At this camp, players will be taught the game of soccer in a nurturing and fun, yet challenging, environment. Players will experience components from the four pillars of the game of soccer (technical, tactical, physical, and psychological) with the main emphasis on developing the individual player. The last part of each day, players will participate in small sided games. Prizes will be awarded for campers of the week. Bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water, light snack, towel, outdoor soccer shoes, and indoor/flat shoes. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and mini soccer ball.

Girls’ Volleyball Camp
3rd – 6th
This camp is perfect for all newcomers to volleyball or players with little experience. Camp will focus on developing and improving the fundamental skills of the game, including passing, setting, serving, and hitting. Fun drills, competitions, and games will be used to reinforce the basic skills. Campers should bring a filled water bottle and kneepads.

Lacrosse Camp
2nd – 5th
This camp will be a fun-filled introduction to the game of girls lacrosse. We will cover all of the basic skills of the game by using specific drills and small – sided games. A strong foundation in the basics will be emphasized. Campers will receive a mouth guard. Please bring a stick, certified eye goggles, cleats, sneakers, and a filled water bottle each day.

Golf Camp
5th – 9th
Golf is a sport that lasts a lifetime! Join Coach Bartholomew to work on the fundamentals of the game. Girls will need their own golf clubs, a golf glove, golf spikes (or tennis shoes), and a refillable water bottle. All other equipment (tees and balls) will be provided. Campers will arrive at St. Mary’s each day and then transported in the school bus to different golf courses and/or driving ranges.

Mike Miller’s M33M Basketball Camp at St. Mary’s
AGES 5 – 16
Girls and boys are invited to learn from the pros at the Mike Miller M33M Basketball Camp! 32 hours of expert instruction will include drills, skill development, contests, and games. Each camper will receive a reversible M33M jersey and a Certificate of Appreciation during the end of camp awards ceremony. This camp will sell out! Soccer Skills and Fitness Sharpener

This mini camp is designed to reinforce fundamental soccer skills and soccer-specific fitness prior to the start of Middle School soccer season. Primary focus will be put on individual passing, dribbling, and shooting. The fitness portion will include speed and agility work.

Volleyball Skills and Fitness Sharpener

This mini camp is designed to reinforce fundamental volleyball skills and volleyball–specific fitness prior to the start of middle school volleyball season. Primary focus will be put on individual passing, setting, serving, and hitting. The fitness portion will include jump training as well as speed and agility work.
