Upper School Teams

Skill, commitment, and maturity are the basis for our Upper School athletics program. Each girl’s skill level is re-evaluated at the beginning of the season to determine team membership. In Upper School, athletics are intended to be the culminating experience for the highly committed and skilled athlete.

Athletic forms are required once a year for students who plan to participate.

Fall Sports

Tryouts for the Upper School girls soccer teams will be held in late May with preseason starting in June. The season runs August through mid-October.

Tryouts for our girls' volleyball teams will be held May 25. The season runs from August through early October.

Season begins the first week of school. No experience is required. Girls must have their own set of clubs.

Cross Country
Cross Country practices three to four times per week and the season concludes in mid-October.

Winter Sports

Tryouts will be held October 29-31. The season runs October through late February.

The season runs October through late January. Practice and matches at Billy Hardwick's All Star Lanes.

Our Fencing Team participates as part of the MUS Fencing Club. Please contact St. Mary's Fencing Head Coach, Brad Kroeker, for more information.

Swim team practices at the Racquet Club of Memphis. The season extends from early November through early February.

Spring Sports

Preseason starts mid-January with tryouts in late February. The season runs mid-February to mid-May.

Track and Field
Pre-season training begins in January and the season runs from March through May.

Season begins January and runs through May. Practices are held at the Racquet Club of Memphis three to four times per week.

Practices begin in January and are held on Saturdays and Mondays after school. The season runs February through June. Practices and matches will take place at Memphis Sport Shooting Association (MSSA).

Summer Camps & Clinics

Carl Schmitt Soccer Camp
AGES 5 – 18
At this camp, players will be taught the game of soccer in a nurturing and fun, yet challenging, environment. Players will experience components from the four pillars of the game of soccer (technical, tactical, physical, and psychological) with the main emphasis on developing the individual player. The last part of each day, players will participate in small sided games. Prizes will be awarded for campers of the week. Bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water, light snack, towel, outdoor soccer shoes, and indoor/flat shoes. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and mini soccer ball.

Upper School Basketball Camp
9th – 12th
Designed to challenge and prepare high school players for the upcoming basketball season. Each player will develop individual skills with a focus on the fundamentals of the game through position work taught by college players and coaches. Team concepts will be taught and stressed throughout the camp.

Lacrosse Camp
6th – 9th
This camp will be a fun-filled introduction to the game of girls lacrosse. We will cover all of the basic skills of the game by using specific drills and small – sided games. A strong foundation in the basics will be emphasized. Campers will receive a mouth guard. Please bring a stick, certified eye goggles, cleats and sneakers, and a filled water bottle each day.

Golf Camp
5th – 9th
Golf is a sport that lasts a lifetime! Join Coach Bartholomew to work on the fundamentals of the game. Girls will need their own golf clubs, a golf glove, golf spikes (or tennis shoes), and a refillable water bottle. All other equipment (tees and balls) will be provided. Campers will arrive at St. Mary’s each day and then transported in the school bus to different golf courses and/or driving ranges.

Mike Miller’s M33M Basketball Camp at St. Mary’s
AGES 5 – 16
Girls and boys are invited to learn from the pros at the Mike Miller M33M Basketball Camp! 32 hours of expert instruction will include drills, skill development, contests, and games. Each camper will receive a reversible M33M jersey and a Certificate of Appreciation during the end of camp awards ceremony. This camp will sell out! Bowling “FUN-damentals”
Learn basic bowling skills such as approach, delivery, and follow-through from the head coach of St. Mary’s Bowling team. Topics will include choosing the right weight ball, coordinating hand and foot motion, aim, and scoring. This camp will be held at Billy Hardwick’s All Star Lanes. Transportation to and from this camp will not be provided by St. Mary’s staff.
