Specialty Classes (Spring 2024)
Auxiliary Programs at St. Mary’s is excited to offer Specialty Classes to girls in each division.
Enjoy returning favorites like Pottery & More and Gymnastics, and new additions like Sewing and Ukelele Lessons. After3 is free for girls attending specialty classes from school dismissal until their class starts, and there is a 15 minute grace period for pickup. Only students who stay at school for a FULL day are allowed to sign up for Specialty Classes. If you daughter leaves at noon, we have two noon class options for her. STEM Gems
Join us for lots of SPARKLING fun each week in our STEM Gems Club as we code and have fun exploring STEM, STEAM, and STREAM in this all-girls weekly meetup. Each week our STEM Gems will work toward earning a new GEM (diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and more) for their STEM headbands by completing STEM challenges, coding robots, programming and so much more. Our weekly meet-ups enhance critical thinking skills while building up self-confidence and teamwork all in a positive and enthusiastic learning environment. Girls RULE....come be a STEM Gem TODAY!

Dr. Seuss Book Study

Learn to hand-make pottery with Mr. Adam and his team of artists from Seize the Clay! In this series of fun classes, kids will learn all of the cool tips and tricks to sculpt unique pottery pieces. Kids will sculpt two pieces of pottery in classes 1 and 2 then paint their creations in classes 3 and 4. Art is spontaneous and what we will make will depend on the kid's interests. Past projects include flower pots, ice cream bowls, Picasso-inspired silly portrait plates, animal figurines, and much more. Making pottery is messy but all of the materials we will use in class are washable!

St. Mary's Turkey Theatre

Turkey Theatre will provide an early introduction to theatre and assist in building the confidence of young girls. Students will stage a musical and learn how to create a character, practice public speaking, and gain confidence in singing, and movement in front of an audience. Public performances will be on March 22 and 23.

Creative Movement I
With an emphasis on freedom of discovery and self-expression, dancers explore how their own bodies move and manipulate the space around them while forming a sense of self-confidence in performing. Exploration is the primary focus while adding the component of improvisation. As developing dancers continue to experiment with movement and coordination, the basics of ballet are integrated into class. Students will be introduced to the barre, start using fundamental terminology, and begin foundational exercises with a focus on class etiquette. Little Dribblers: Basketball and Soccer
Little Dribblers will have a blast experiencing the fun of both basketball and soccer in a fun and nurturing environment. Our program works with the basics of soccer and basketball, including, but not limited to, hand-eye coordination, ball handling, footwork, dribbling, shooting, passing, and scoring a goal. We also include songs, drills, and games to incorporate numeracy and language skills each day. Most importantly, we keep it fun and exciting for the kids while promoting self-esteem, sports etiquette, and the benefits of exercise.

Intermediate Gymnastics and Tumbling
Build your skills on the floor, bars, balance beam, and vault. This class will move on from the beginning curriculum, focusing on balance beam tumbling skills, and tying together bar skills into routines. Your daughter will also develop floor skills including powerful round-offs, front and back walkovers, and back handsprings.

Fun with Folk Dancing
Come and learn a new folk dance each week. We will learn about the countries, traditions, and cultures as we dance. We will also create our own modern folk dances. The class will culminate with a family folk dancing night where the girls will share a few of their favorites and even teach the audience a dance or two!

Turkeys in Training: Lacrosse
This program is designed to introduce our youngest girls to the wonderful world of lacrosse! During this six-week clinic, we will focus on stick work fundamentals: scooping, cradling, passing, and shooting. All players will need a mouthguard, a girls lacrosse stick, goggles, and water everyday.

Building Blocks Soccer

Cheerleading 101
Cheerleading is one of the most popular sports among young girls. Cheering is an excellent opportunity to get out and be active. Students in the class will learn proper hand and body movements along with jumping techniques. There will be a parent demonstration on the last day of class.

Fruit of the Spirit
We sing the Fruit of the Spirit song in chapel, and all of the characteristics can be found along our Bridge to Caring, but what is the story behind the Fruit of the Spirit? And who in the Bible used their fruit of the Spirit? Was it always easy for them? This 9-week bible study will spotlight stories from the Bible about people who faced difficult situations, but used the fruit of the Spirit to overcome challenges.

About Gene Micofsky:
Gene has a Bachelor’s degree in jazz composition from the University of the Arts and a Master’s degree in classical composition from Temple University. He has written music for Nike, Beats, Comcast, Comedy Central, and many others. He has shared the stage with artists such as Little Big Town, Charlie Daniels Band, John Mayer, and more. Between 2018-2020, he toured worldwide in support of his debut Amusia. In 2020, Gene began a partnership with Dan Konpoka of the rock band OKGo. Under the guise of Siren Sound, together they produce records for indie artists around the globe.

Middle School Knowledge Bowl
If you love learning across disciplines, this academic trivia-focused activity is for you! Learn and apply the rules of Knowledge Bowl-style competitions in subjects including fine arts, geography, history, literature, math, and science with a smattering of popular culture, sports, and more. Students will also learn how to research, explore and build resources in their particular areas of interest.

Babysitter Certification with CPR
Babysitter lessons and safety training is an important program for potential babysitters providing extensive training in pediatric first aid, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. Students will learn how to handle choking and first aid basics for emergency response. At the end of this interactive two-day class, students will leave with a certificate of completion and certification card as well as certified CPR training.

ACT Prep Workshop
This class provides comprehensive reviews of math, science, and verbal skills necessary for taking the ACT. Students also learn test-taking strategies and complete practice tests during class. Early Childhood Noon Classes
Auxiliary Programs is thrilled to offer noon specialty classes for our girls in Pre-K and JK. Girls will have lunch as a class at 12:00 p.m. each day and classes are from 12:30 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. Girls that attend a full day of school will return to their classrooms. Girls that typically leave at 12:00 p.m. will have a special 1:15 p.m. carpool on the Marlene R. Shaw Early Childhood Center porch. Girls must attend school on the day that they attend a Specialty Class.
Obstacle Mania!
Jump! Duck! Roll! Crawl! Climb! Each of our obstacle courses will focus on different muscles and skill groups like rolling, jumping, upper-body strength, balance, and body awareness. This fun class focuses on physical and mental organization along with practical problem solving. The kids will stay up & busy as they conquer the obstacles!

Policies and Procedures
GENERAL INFORMATION
To register online, please visit UltraCamp. If you haven’t yet done so, please create a complete profile for your family. You may register for classes and make payments through this platform. Please contact Briana Morrow at 901-537-1415 for any registration or payment questions.
Only students who stay at school for a FULL day are allowed to sign up for Specialty Classes. If you daughter leaves at noon, we have two noon class options for her. Please click the Early Childhood Noon Classes tab to see those details.
A $25 deposit per-class (excluding Single Day Classes and Friday Flings) is required for registration. The $25 per-class deposit is applied toward the total class fee; it is not an additional fee. The deposit reserves a space for your child, and the remaining balance is due by the start date of the class. All deposits are non-refundable. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as checks and cash, are all accepted. Programs will not be prorated for any reason.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Please contact Briana Morrow at 901-537-1415 if you need to cancel a class in advance. A minimum of 10 days notice must be given to receive a refund, less the non-refundable deposit. Except in cases of illness or emergency that is disclosed to the Auxiliary Programs Director before the start of an activity, refunds will not be given after a program begins. No refunds will be given to those students who choose not to attend class without their parents’ knowledge. If you choose to cancel a class outside of the 10 day window, we will issue a credit on your UltraCamp account to use for future reservations. No credits will be issued if you cancel a Single Day Class or Friday Fling the day of. Confirmation of class registration will be sent to you via email along with your pick-up information, and the class MUST be paid in full by the start date to attend. Classes with insufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation with a full refund. Advance notice will be provided to those registered.
BEHAVIORAL POLICY
Students are expected to adhere to the policies of St. Mary’s Episcopal School. We reserve the right to dismiss from the program (without refund) any student whose behavior becomes unmanageable. Students and campers are not allowed to be unsupervised on campus and are expected to be neatly and properly dressed. The use or possession of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products is not allowed, and any students in possession of such items will be expelled from the program, and the appropriate authorities will be contacted, and no refund will be given.
DROP IN FEE
There is a 15 minute grace period from the time the class ends to pickup your daughter unless she is enrolled in After3. After that time, she will be dropped into After3 at the rate of $10.
