Fun, discovery, and investigation await every child in a creative, supportive, and enriched environment rooted in St. Mary’s Episcopal School’s mission.

We offer a variety of year-round programs, classes, and workshops from hip hop, gymnastics, and fairy tale science to SAT, ACT, and PSAT college prep courses, as well as one-on-one tutoring.

Our popular summer day camps start the Tuesday after Memorial Day and run through the first week of August.

After 3
 
Our after school program is available for students from St. Mary’s Place (2 years) through 12th grade starting the first day of school in August and continuing every day school is in session until the last class day in May. All students receive a snack and engage in a wide range of activities including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, reading, and free-time. After3 care is from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. All students must be picked-up promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Lower School students in grades 1st-5th have a designated homework time in a supervised, structured environment. We offer a variety of monthly care options to choose from.

Special Care Days

St. Mary's offers special care options for students in St. Mary's Place through 8th grade on certain days when regular school is not in session.  Students will enjoy recreation, crafts, activities, and movie time each day.  Snacks are provided, but students must bring a nut-free lunch from home.  All special care days will be located on the North Campus.

Basketball 101 GRADES 1ST-5TH

Musical Theater: Mary Poppins Grades PK-1st

Students will learn about musical theater through weekly direction of the show “Mary Poppins”. Students will learn a mini version of the show with parts assigned by age. Memphis Youth Musical Theater is directed by Mary Van Dyke, and offers all the classics of musical theater that kids love! The combined classes will put on a performance for family and friends on the last day of class in the ECC Building. Students should wear school clothing to class.

Birthday Bash Grades SMP-SK

Let’s Celebrate!  Once a month, we will have a birthday bash for the girls whose birthday falls within each specific month.  We will decorate our own birthday cupcakes, create our own birthday hats, and so much more as we celebrate ourselves and each other!  This special class is just for girls whose birthday falls within the specific month and you must register through our office. Please note:  If your daughters birthday is in June, she may register for the May Birthday Bash class.

Pre-Ballet: Giselle and Angelina Ballerina (3 sessions) Grades SMP-SK

In this class, students will learn the beautiful art of French and Russian classical ballet with a unique and fun syllabus designed by Children’s Ballet Theater director Mary Van Dyke. The theme of the session will be “Angelina Ballerina” and the famed ballet “Giselle”. For class, students should wear school clothing and bring ballet slippers; tutus are provided.  There will be a parent recital on the final day of class for each session in the ECC Building. For class, students should wear school clothing and bring ballet slippers; tutus are provided. For parent demonstration on the last day, the 12:30pm and 3:15pm students will need a pink leotard, and pink tights, and hair in a bun. Tutus will be provided.

*The 4:00pm JK/SK class will perform a recital onstage April 13 and these students will need a blue leotard, white thin bobby socks, hair in a bun. Tutus will be provided. More information for the onstage recital will be provided at a later date.

Kindermusik Grades PK-JK

Our theme for the upcoming Spring semester of Kindermusik is "Feel the Music!"  Learn about different styles of music in a fun way with Kindermusik classes held on Wednesday afternoons!  Your child will get hands-on experience with a variety of instruments, as well as exploring singing, dancing, storytelling and learning about different genres of music. We will explore Classical, Jazz, Latin American, Folk music, and more!  Included in your fee is a download of the digital music, a book, & an instrument

Swimming Club Grades SK-2nd

Join the St. Mary’s elementary swimming club! Under the guidance of experienced coaches, swimmers will be encouraged to develop their swimming technique and improve their conditioning in a positive, fun, team-oriented environment. Swimmers will receive coaching focused on technique and endurance training with exposure to all four strokes, starts, and finishes. This offering is fun and rewarding, culminating in two low-pressure swim meets against other local schools. To sign-up, a swimmer MUST be able to swim freestyle the length of a 25 yard pool unassisted. Practices will take place at the Nuber YMCA on Quince.

*Transportation to the YMCA is not provided for practices or meets.

Felicity Study Grades 1st-3rd

Felicity Day was a treasured tradition at St. Mary’s.  Your daughter can now join us for five weeks of Felicity study.  Learn about Felicity’s life during Colonial times. We will cross-stitch a sampler, create a mop hat, make and taste apple butter, and learn to dance the minuet.  Parents are invited to join us during the last class, when the girls will dance the minuet and enjoy an English tea party.

Chess Grades 1st-5th

Chess is one of the oldest games in the world, beginning over 1,500 years ago in India. Students will learn to play chess or sharpen their chess skills in this class. Chess is a fun and challenging game that helps students with memory, problem solving, and strategy.

Karate Grades 3rd-8th
 

It is never too early to learn self-defense. Come learn from a 7th degree black belt and an 8th degree black belt associated under the PaSaRyu System. Students in this course will concentrate on focus, voice, balance, and much more.

Knitting Grades 3rd-5th

Do you want to learn how to knit, but aren't sure where to start?  This class will get you churning out cozy scarves in no time flat! Knitting is a great way to relax, socialize, and learn to focus.  We'll start off with finger knitting and loom knitting to get used to the feel of the yarn, then move on to "real" knitting. The class will cover casting on, binding off, knit stitches, and purl stitches.  Each girl will receive their own loom and needles and will make three projects to bring home.

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.

Cheerleading Grades 1st-2nd

ACT Prep Workshops For girls and boys entering grades 10th-12th

This class provides comprehensive reviews of math, science, and verbal skills necessary for taking the ACT.  Students also learn test taking strategies and complete practice tests during the class.  Students need to bring a small lunch/snack and calculator they plan on using for the exam; all other materials and practice tests provided.

The Nathaniel C. Hughes Learning Center at St. Mary's offers our North Campus students, and girls and boys from other schools, the opportunity to enhance their reading and literacy skills.

The Hughes Learning Center has a team of Junior and Senior student tutors ready to help your Middle School student finish homework, study for a test, or practice a difficult concept. Music Lessons

Traditional Music Lessons

St. Mary’s is pleased to offer several options for private music lessons to our students and families. Violin, piano, voice, and guitar lessons are available. Students taking music lessons after school may stay in the after care program free of charge until their lesson time and will receive a snack, enjoy recreation, and older girls will have a designated homework time. Siblings are also welcome to take lessons at St. Mary’s. Each teacher manages his/her own schedule, so please contact him/her directly regarding availability and fees.

St. Mary’s offers several different options for families interested in traditional music lessons. Traditional music lessons expose students at an early age to technique, music theory, and sight-reading.

Policies & Procedures

GENERAL INFORMATION

All policies and procedures expressed in the St. Mary’s Student Handbook apply to Auxiliary Programming. All students must be fully potty trained to participate in any specialty class. Any questions should be addressed to the director.

To register online, please go to www.stmarysschool.org. When you click "register", you will be directed to our online registration system, Ultra Camp. If you haven’t done so before, please create a complete profile for you and your child. You can register for classes as well as make payments through this site. You may also contact Kacie O’Kelley, Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs,  at kokelley@stmarysschool.org or 901-537-1415 for registration and to make payment.


COURSE FEES

A $25 deposit per class is required for registration. The $25 per-class deposit is applied toward the total class fee; it is not an additional fee. The deposit reserves a space for you child, and the remaining balance is due by the start date of the class. All deposits are non-refundable. Our program accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as checks and cash. St. Mary’s classes will not be prorated for any reason. Classes with insufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation with a full refund. Advance notice will be provided to those registered.

St. Mary's classes will not be prorated for any reason. A reservation must be canceled before the start date of the class to receive a refund. Dropping a class after the start date will be non-refundable.


BEHAVIORAL POLICY

Students are expected to adhere to the policies of St. Mary’s Episcopal School at all times while on campus. We reserve the right to dismiss from the program (without refund) any student whose behavior becomes unmanageable.


PICK-UP AUTHORIZATION

Only adults designated on the registration form will be permitted to pick up children from the program. Written authorization is required for pick up by someone other than those listed on the registration form. The parent or authorized adult to whom the child is being released must sign the child’s time sheet and record the time.


LATE FEE/PICK-UP POLICY

It is important that students be picked up promptly at the end of their classes. Children not picked up within 15 minutes of the end of class will be checked into our after school program and charged a drop-in fee.

Students should be picked up promptly at 6:00 p.m. Parents will be charged a fee of $2 per minute for the first 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, a late fee of $5 per minute will be charged. All late fees must be paid at the time of pick-up. If a student is picked-up late more than three times in a semester, St. Mary’s reserves the right to dismiss that student from the after school program.
