Thank you. Because of caring donors like you our sights are set on the year 2020 when our Athletic and Wellness Center will open. We have made great progress and the Athletic and Wellness Center is now emerging and will be home to a new generation of girls who will strengthen and nourish their bodies in the fitness, athletic, and dining facilities housed within. This is only possible because countless volunteers, trustees and donors have given their time and money for St. Mary's future. Students, parents, faculty, and staff, too, are contributing through their flexibility, patience, and accommodation as we work side by side in the midst of a major construction project.  We invite you to read more about this project and what it will mean for our students - in mind, body and spirit.

Dining Hall

The light-filled Dining Hall will accommodate the entire Upper School or Middle School while faculty and staff enjoy a private dining room.

Athletic & Wellness Center

The suite of spaces includes a strength and conditioning area, a physical wellness classroom, and a training room.

Regulation-Sized Gymnasium

The main court will be 94 feet, divisible into two 84 feet courts.  The grandstand will seat 600 spectators with additional seating for 300 along the north and south walls.

Allison Garrott Braswell ’88 P’22, Campaign Co-Chair

“Having a daughter who has reaped physical benefits and ‘life lessons’ from St. Mary’s athletic program, I am inspired by how these facilities will augment our sports and recreation programs. In the school prayer, we pray to ‘keep the students in health of mind and soul and body.’ This new building will engage each girl in these domains and boost our commitment to wellness and good physical health.”

Margaret Frazier Gardner ’85, P’21, Board Chair

“I am a St. Mary’s girl - for life. I am an alumna, a parent, a volunteer, and a donor who knows how St. Mary’s influences generations of women. As Board Chair, I am proud to help lead the long-anticipated effort to build an Athletic and Wellness Center that will bring our community together in spaces we currently cannot offer. I know firsthand that this endeavor goes beyond a building project. It is an essential step in the journey of St. Mary’s to grow generations of strong and healthy women.”

Barbara Hyde P’17, Campaign Co-Chair

“For decades the quality of our physical campus and facilities has lagged behind the caliber of our students, faculty, and programs. This campaign is about addressing the whole school, the whole experience, the whole girl, and holding all to the same standard of excellence.”

John Bartholomew, Athletic Director

“Girls who play sports have, on average, higher grade point averages and better SAT scores. More importantly, athletics teaches resilience, time management, and the ability to work as a team for the greater good. I love coaching at St. Mary’s because our girls know how to learn. They have the ability to study the game. They know where to be on the field. They know the work it takes to do well, and they are willing to put in that effort, not only in the classroom but on the athletic field or court.”
